We collect less than you'd guess.
This is the legal document. We've written it like a real person speaking to another real person. If anything is unclear, email hello@taakie.co.za and we'll explain it.

- We don't sell your data. Not now, not ever.

What we collect
Account info: email, phone number (for WhatsApp on Pro), your name if you give it to us.
Your taakies: the tasks you create, their dates, tags, and completion status. Voice notes are transcribed and the audio is deleted within 30 days.
Billing:handled by Stripe. We see the last 4 digits of your card and nothing more. Stripe's policy applies for the rest.
Anonymous usage:page views, button clicks, errors. No third-party trackers, no Facebook pixel, no Google Analytics. We use a self-hosted analytics tool that doesn't set cookies.
What we don't collect
- Your WhatsApp conversations with anyone other than Taakie.
- Your location.
- Your contacts.
- Anything that isn't a taakie or a message to Taakie.
Who we share it with
A small list of sub-processors we couldn't function without:
- Vercel: hosting and serverless functions.
- Stripe: payments.
- WhatsApp Business / Meta: the WhatsApp channel only — your taakies stay on our servers.
- Postmark: the two emails we send you (signup confirmation, password reset).
That's it. No ad networks, no “data partners,” no unnamed third parties.
Your rights (POPIA, GDPR)
- Export: grab everything as JSON or plain text from Settings → Data.
- Delete: one click and it's gone within 24 hours. Backups are purged within 30 days.
- Correct: edit anything yourself, or ask us at hello@taakie.co.za.
- Object: tell us to stop processing your data. We'll have to close your account, but we'll be polite about it.
How we keep it safe
Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3). Encrypted at rest (AES-256). 2FA available on all accounts. Background checks on the (few) people with production database access.
Cookies
One. It remembers you're logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no consent banner needed.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. No retroactive changes.
